On April 20, 2010 I fulfilled a long repressed goal of biking all the way around the perimeter of Manhattan. This was during my last week in the big city before I moved to Austin, TX.
I pedaled along the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway, a 32-mile walking and biking "path" around the city, with the help of nycbikemaps.com. I started and finished at the East River Park at 6th street on the east side of lower Manhattan and went counter-clockwise around the island. Most of the ride was on dedicated bike/walking lanes separated from traffic, but a few sections required taking it to the streets.
The ride took about 4 hours at a very leisurely pace. Below are the photos documenting the ride, and to the right is a key indicating the approximate location each photo was taken from (by photo #). Enjoy.
